The minority of members who did not agree with the vote to disaffiliate from WELS left the congregation Emmanuel Lutheran Church to start its own congregation affiliated with WELS. The majority did not "take" the congregation from the minority nor from the WELS. Neither the minority nor the WELS (now that CEF has been paid off) have a claim on the property just because money was given for ministry over the years. That's how it works: the majority rules.

The silver lining in this is that there is now another, new Lutheran congregation in Las Cruces.

- Rev. It now meets in a former member home. The continuing congregation has taken the name Cross of Christ to confess that this is the place our sins were forgiven. I don't thin...Mr. Lindee is exactly right here. I don't think that anyone would argue that the CEF should fund non-WELS churches. I do find it interesting though that the CEF is perfectly willing to help certain pastors buy former night-clubs, but was unwilling to give Emmanuel some real time or a path to work out its financial situation. Would not the charitable thing have been to give Emmanuel time to find a way to refinance its debt instead of essentially calling in the debt immediately? There is nothing charitable about that, and there is nothing sinful about pointing it out. Whether we agree with Pastor Rydecki or not, I should hope that we all can be thankful that this congregation was able to survive.

Dr. Aaron PalmerAPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16148045256929799898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6881617320676906596.post-54254092530483678372012-11-29T11:09:21.448-07:002012-11-29T11:09:21.448-07:00Christian charity works both ways. It is taking things in the worst possible way, rather than the kindest possible way. It is sin.

Mr. Adam PeelerAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
